Day 10 Flagstaff

Dora gets altitude sickness which she started feeling last night.  Usually she is fine in a couple of days. I don't have anything planned in particular. This is supposed to be a relaxing vacation. So today may be a day of laying low. It is now 6:00am and Dora is still asleep. Which is a good thing since one of the symptoms of altitude sickness is difficulty sleeping. 

Dora felt much better in the morning. We booked a a bus tour of the Grand Canyon for tomorrow morning. 

So we went and checked out the pool area. 

We went to the local Market that was a lot like Whole Foods and picked up a couple sandwiches for a picnic lunch at Walnut Canyon National Monument.

Dora on the rim. This was a site of canyon dwelling Indians. They lived in the canyon from about 1125 to 1250. There were about 100 dwellings in the canyon walls. There were about 250 steps to get from the visitors center down to the level of the dwellings.

A view of the visitors center at the top before I headed up the 250 steps. It probably took me over 30 min. to climb them. It was pretty tough at this altitude. 

This evening we went to see a Navajo Indian talk about being a Navajo Indian and he likes the term Indian not Native American.
