Day 24 homeward bound

PUp at 4:15 on the road by 5:15. Doris and Paul are coming with us to our house. 

Should have been an uneventful trip. If I hadn't run into a deer on US395. 

Fortunately the car is still drivable. Had to take off the side view mirror. 

Decided to take hwy 108 over the Sonora pass. It is a beautiful drive. Here are some shots from the vista area. 

3:00 and we are home. 

 

Day 23 last day in Mammouth

Went to Minaret Vista at the top of Mammouth mountain for a good view of the Minarets. 

Then we drove to Hot Creek geological site. 

This gulch was created 700,000 years ago by liquid magma. Today scalding hot water is still bubbling up into the creek. 

Day 22 Mamouth fun

This morning we headed to convict lake. 

It was named convict lake because back in the 1870's 29 convicts escaped for a federal penitentiary and a posse tracked 3 of them to this lake, where there was a shoot out. The Sheriff and Indian tracker were killed. So they named it Convict lake.

In the afternoon, Aaron, Ben and I played a round of golf. 

Day 21 off to Mammoth

We were off this morning at 4:10AM once it got light the road looked pretty much like this. 

Then it changed to more like this. 

Then as we got to CA. It looked like this 

We stopped to take some pictures.

We arrived at the condo at 3:20

It was a long drive. 

Day 20 Tuzigoot and Jerome.

Up at 6 am to get out to Tuzigoot ruins 

Then we went to Jerome. The largest ghost town in the US. 

This our last night in Sedona. So I got some shots of the sunset. 

We are heading for Mammoth mountain at 4:00 AM tomorrow. 

 

Day 19 Sedona hike and sunset jeep tour

Up at 6:30 this morning. Heading for an early morning walk at the west fork of Oak creek.

I the evening took a sunset jeep your on Sevens Canyons area outside Sedona. 

Day 18 Sedona

We have a 1 hour city tour scheduled for 10:00 this morning. But other than that we haven't planned anything. 

This was shot up by the Holy Cross Chapel, which was designed by Frank Lloyd  Wright.

After the tour we went and did som shopping.
